Dandara Jersey, under the Planning & Environment ‘Percentage for Art’ initiative and in line with our ongoing development plans, is delighted to announce the commencement of an ambitious program to acquire works which will not only bring a new level of excellence to residential and commercial redevelopment but will also benefit generations of Islanders for many years to come.
Together with advisor Philip Hewat-Jaboor, unique pieces are being commissioned from leading British sculptors; painters and craftsmen of outstanding international reputation. The works, some inspired directly by the Jersey landscape and its history will become part of the fabric of the Island whilst serving to enhance its natural beauty.
Works commissioned thus far include a series of paintings reflecting Jersey’s maritime landscape by Carl Laubin; Wing by Christopher Le Brun, a bronze work inspired by the myth of Pegasus; Catamarans by Stephen Cox, a monumental granite work reflecting the ancient catamarans of India; a pair of jewel-like steel gates inspired by the outlines of the south coast of the Island and Janvrin’s Tomb by Wendy Renshaw and a pierced steel façade and canopies by Chris Knight which echo Jersey’s maritime environment.
